Abstract
''Shroud'' is the most important short story of Prem Chand. This short story has
greatly influenced not only the fiction writers of his time but also the later
fiction writers. This short story is still considered one of the most prominent
short stories in Urdu fiction and a manifesto of the Progressive Writers
Movement to some extent. That is why; this short story is generally considered a
complete short story in every aspect. Is this short story complete in every way?
In this article, an attempt has been made to critically examine the short story in
this regard.
