Abstract
The current study examines the influence of workload on
disengagement among academician. In addition, the researcher
explores the moderating effect of social support on the association
between the workload and disengagement. The researcher collected
data through an adapted questionnaire from 159 academicians of
universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Pakistan. Regression
analysis revealed workload has a positive association with
disengagement. Furthermore, the results suggest that academician’s
disengagement might be minimized by making reasonable demands in
the working environment. Moreover, results suggested that social
support moderates the relationship between workload and
disengagement. From the current study, it has been concluded that the
level of disengagement will decrease as the level of resources
increases. The findings are significant for the academicians,
researchers, and policy makers.
