The Significance of Ṣadd e Zaraie (the acts that patronize sins) as a remedial measure for the collective problems of a Society
Abstract
Islam is a complete code of life. Comprehensively it guides the humanity not only about lawful and the unlawful acts, but also provides a set of instructions related to the behaviours and actions that advocate sins or pave the way towards evil and indecency.Islamic jurisprudence includes a branch called ‘Ṣadd e Zaraie’ that deals with the rulings about those acts which patronize sins. The jurisdictions are authenticated with the references of the Holy Qur’ān and Ḥadith. Moreover, they are supported by various opinions of the jurists.
This research paper primarily presents the significance of ‘Ṣadd e Zaraie’ (the Islamic ruling about the acts that patronize sins), its authenticity and the methodology to derive such rulings. Subsequently, the article gives details and arguments how these rulings are an effective measure in dealing with contemporary collective problems in our society.
