Abstract
The investigations were carried out to study the effect of texture on potassium equilibrium in some calcareous soils. Fixation of potassium was studied in Sandy Loam, Sandy clay loam and Clayey soils. Potassium was added at the rate of 0, 50, 75,100and 150 ppm per lOOg of soil as potassium sulphate and three levels 6,12 and 18% of calcium carbonate were developed and subjected to alternate wetting and drying for eight weeks. The potassium was extracted with normal ammonium acetate and fixed potassium was determined. The potassium fixation values were dependent upon the amount of colloidal particles in the soil and concentration of respective ions in the solution
