Abstract
Shabnum Gul is a distinctive contemporary writer who has mastered
the art of not only poetry but prose genres. Shabnum Gul has written on inimitable topics and has also introduced new subjects and techniques. The Sindhi
story is divided into three periods, first being prior to 1947, the second from
1947 to 1985 and the third from mid-90s to the present. During this time
many legendary writers have written countless stories and enriched Sindhi
literature. Shabnum Gul belongs to the third period. Shabnam Gul has succeeded in joining the ranks of high profile fiction writers due to the uniqueness
of her subjects, beautiful style as well as appealing diction. Shabnum Gul started writing in Sindhi literature in 1986. Her stories and poems have been published in many magazines and newspapers and covers various topics such as
poetry, memoirs, travelogues, stories, novel, columns, radio and television
plays, essays on psychology and parapsychology, comparative literature, research and other topics.
She wrote different books such as: "Akhri Lafz" (poetry 1994) "Unjatal
Shaher Jo naqsho" (Stories 1995), "Munhinjo Sooraj Mukhi" (Memoires 2008),
"Makhi Khan Moklani" (Novel 2015 prize Winner), "khali Hanj Jo dukh" (stories
2017 prize winner), "Khud Shanase-a Jo Johar" (Column and essays on psychology and parapsychology 2019 prize winner), "Muntakhib Afsane" (from Pakistani Adab 2019), "Lafzan Ja Deep" (columns 2019), "Dard-a Ji
Lae" (poetry2019), "Khwab Nagar" (travelogue 2021), "Piasi Lahren" (columns
and essays on social issues 2021), "Tahtul Shaoor Ki Taqat" (essays and columns on psychology and parapsychology 2021), and “Lehrun Jo Geet” (radio
and television plays 2021). She wrote in various genres but she ensured that
her prose work did not overlap. Her poetry and prose is based on her wide
knowledge of technical writings. She insists on using clear techniques according to the requirements of writings whether it's poetry or prose. Shabnum

Gul's stories are based on social and environmental issues. Her characters are
not always humans but she has on occasions chosen butterflies, birds and
trees as well.
Her stories are a reflection of today's world. They have brought modern issues to the forefront of modern times. The treatment of Shabnum's
stories is superb, but overall the motives in his proposed themes seem useful
and artistic
