Abstract
It is evident from the evolution of human history that the gender discrimination
that still exists in our culture, started from agricultural societies. Social studies
have commonly written on this issue amongst all their disciplines. Literature in
modern times has focused on gender discrimination all over the world. Urdu
Literature has also focused on this issue. The article, therefore, explores the
issue of gender discrimination in Urdu short story (Afsana) written from its
inception and its development till 1960. The article highlights different aspects
of gender discrimination in important short stories of this particular age-from
Rashid-ul-Kheri to Rasheed Amjad.
