Abstract
The Book on Precious Stones, by Muhammad-bin-Ahmed Alberuni (362H/973A.D- 440H/1048 A.D) is a most valuable book on gemmology and physical chemistry. Its literary style is also noteworthy. The Arabic Text was edited by Fritz Kren Kow and published in 1355 H/1936 A.D. form Hyderabad/ Deccan. The Arabic Text was translated in English by Hakeem M. Saeed (Said) and published by Hijra Council Islamabad in 1410H/1989. It is now being translated in Urdu with annotation and modern comparative studied. The Urdu Translation of the 6th chapter of its 2nd fascicle on pearls is presented here because of its literary, technical and historic worth. The translator is well reputed in the field of Translatology, Terminology, Editing and Research. The 1st fascicle has already been published in this journal.
