Analytical Study of Juan Rulfo's Novel 'Pedro Paramo'

Abstract
The paper presents an analysis of Juan Rulfo's novel 'Pedro Paramo' in which the writer attempts to describe the mumbles of fast waning lower middle class of Mexican colonial society. It is evident that causes and effects of political, social and cultural changes, introduced by colonial settlers to attain their economic motives, can still be felt even after the end of colonial period. The study concludes that this twentieth century novel, keeping in view the precolonial, colonial past and post-colonial history of Mexico and the spirit of the era, seeks to give voice to the subdued segments of the society, while coming out of the effects of European literature. And the voice seems to challenge the power relations in Mexican society.
