New World of Wonders: Rafique Hussain's Short Stories
Abstract
The parallel world of words is called fiction. The imagination of writer uses her/his everyday experience and language to create this world. Rafique Hussain, an Urdu Short story writer, had spent decades in Terai's Jungles of northern India. He uses his wildlife experience to construct his fictional world. This makes his short stories a world of wonders. Although his concerns are very much humanistic like many of his contemporary Urdu writers, but the maximalist uses of flora and fauna to understand the diverse nature of the world around make him unique. This article analyses his style of writing and reconstruction of the world by focusing on his details.
