Patterns of Translations of the Meaning of Holy Quran into nonArabic Languages
تلخیص
Translation of the meanings of Holy Qur’an has played a great role in
preaching Islam, though there was no need to translate the Holy Book in the
early period of Islam. When message of Islam reached in other than Arab
people and they embraced Islam, they felt the need of translation of the
meanings of Holy Qur’an in their languages as mentioned in the history of
Islam that Hazrat Salman Al-Farsi translated Surrah Al-Fateha as well as
Bismallah in Persian language on the demand of non-Arabic speaking
persons. It was said by Ismet Binark & HalitEren regarding translations of the
meanings of Holy Quran: It seems that the translations of the meanings of
Holy Qur’an was a matter of serious consideration from the early period of
Islam. Non-Muslims felt the need of an explanation of the Holy Qur’an in
Languages other than Arabic.
Translations of the meanings of Holy Qur’an have been made in local,
national and international Languages of the world; unfortunately mostly
exciting translations of the meanings of Holy Qur’an fail to translate the
original meanings of Holy Qur’an in other than Arabic Languages. It is
observed that there were various purposes of translators of the meanings of
Holy Qur’an like as some translators made translations of the meanings of
Holy Qur’an to promote their own school of thought and to earn fame and to
earn money and to preach their thinking and some translators translate the
meanings of Holy Qur’an into other than Arabic language to remove
misunderstandings accrued due to other translations made by Non-Muslims.
We will try to describe these reasons of translat1ions of the meanings of Holy
Qur’an in this article
