Women's Rights and the Quran

The term Huqooq is the plural of Haq that means literally a thing that is proved. In sharia point of view it is the entity that deserves a person and which held compulsory on others. Islam is the religion that a represents the concept rights profoundly. It has declared the rights of every creature. The human being having a prestigious status among all has been given special reference with respect to the matter of rights.In this regard there is no discrimination between the male and female. Both depend on each other to maintain the reproduction process and meet their mutual needs. Without the mutual cooperation of both, the social system is impossible to launch. Due to this, the status and role of women cannot be ignored. In the present era, many social and reformative organizations have come into existence with the vision to ensure the women’s rights. These organizations many times, criticize the Islamic teachings along with the other outdated customs. They are of the view that Islam has not given due attention to women rights that results in the injustice with this class. If this viewpoint is deeply evaluated, the fact exposes that this all bases on the unawareness about Islamic teachings and its uncovered realities Islam has raised the issue of human rights more than any ancient or modern thought and religion. The Holy Quran being the primitive source of the Islamic rulings has interpreted the family system in detail. The rights of female have been mentioned prior than a male. The Holy Quran has ordained its followers to keep the domestic environment full of joy, satisfaction and comfort. Besides this, the domestic, social, financial and legal rights of women have been explored in rather detail. In this article, the women’s rights in light of the Holy Quran have been mentioned in a scholastic manner which shall also be an answer to the observations put on the issue under reference.
