The present study was designed to investigate the mediating role of attachment styles between family history and the K factor. A purposive sample of 350 adults was drawn from different cities of Punjab. Urdu translated versions of Egna Minnen Betraffande Uppfostran - Short Form (sEMGU) - Child (Arrindell, et al., 1999), Revised Adult Attachment Scale (Collins, 1996), and High K Strategy Scale (Giosan, 2006) were used to measure family history, attachment styles, and K factor, respectively. Path analysis revealed that parental emotional warmth, the age of maturity, close attachment, and anxious attachment positively predicted whereas parental rejection and dependent attachment negatively predicted the K factor. Furthermore, anxious attachment mediated between parental rejection and K factor, whereas close and dependent attachment styles mediated between parental over-protection and K factor. Limitations of the study and implications for future research have been reflected upon.
