DY OF SINDHI POETRY
OF HAMAL FAQEER
Abstract:
Hamal faqeer is a well-known poet of Sindhi Literature. He was
born in 1225 Hijra/1809 A.D in the village of Meer Khan laghari of
khairpur state and died in 1296 Hijra and was burried in a graveyard of
Ibrahim Shah near village Mahmood Khan laghari, which is presently in
Sakrand Taluka. Hamal Faqeer wrote his poetry in Sindhi, Seraiki, Hindi
and Persian language but his Sindhi and Seraiki poetry is more popular.
His collection of poetry namely “Deewan-e-Hamal” was firstly published
in 1914 from shikarpur but then his complete poetry was published in
1953 namely “Kulyat Hamal” by Dr. Nabi Bux Khan Bloch from Sindhi
Adabi Board. In this collection of poetry there are three portions, Sindhi
Kalam, Seraiki Kalam, Hindi Kalam and Persian Kalam، respectively. In
Sindhi Portion there are twelve (12) chapters. First three chapters are
relating to religious topics like as Madah-Moajazah etc. and other nine
chapters are depending on various topics but monthly on Sindhi
Romantic Folk stories of Sassui, Marui, Sohni, and Moomal. In this
paper his Sindhi poetry is analyzed.
