AL-KHANSA is known as famous poetess in Pre- Islamic
period for her elegiac poetry of her two brothers named
“Moaawiya and Sakhr”. Al-Khansa is unique in her style for
writing verses, particularly the verses (elegies) for her two
brothers. The readers of her verses, on one hand feel her grief
and deep sorrow from their hearts and on other hand feel from
their inner souls, the beauty of her poetry.
This article discusses the salient feature of her poetry like
below:
1- A touch of her strong family background, generosity,
qualities of leadership and noble traits of character is
visible in her poetry.
2- Repetition of her grief and moaning along with
repetition of meanings of the verses, particularly
