Subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) denotes the presence of blood within the subarachnoid space. The sensitivity of CT scan to the presence of SAH is strongly influenced by both the amount of blood and the time since haemorrhage. SAH is grouped in four categories according to the amount of blood by the Fischer scale. This CT scan of brain is showing typical findings of SAH. There is hyperdense material clearly filling the subarachnoid space. It is apparent around the circle of Willis, and in the sylvian fissure. Blood is also seen in the interpeduncular fossa as a small hyperdense triangle, and in both the occipital horns of the lateral ventricles.
