A number of shining stars have emerged on the horizon of modern Sindhi literature in the 20th century. Shaikh Ayaz is one of them who is the leading star of that galaxy. He is no doubt a stalwart literary figure and celebrity of modern Sindhi literature in the contemporary literary world. Shaikh Ayaz composed his poetry in Sindhi, Urdu and English and a number of scholars have translated his poetry in several languages. He is a prose writer too with his enlightened and progressive thoughts. Apart from this Shaikh Ayaz remained a journalist, educationist, critic, short story writer, translator and a member of various socio-political and literary movements in literary journey of his life. Besides his two poetry collections in Urdu, he is also the author of many poetry collections in Urdu. He is also the author of many poetry collection in Sindhi language. The credit of more than three dozen books in all the three languages i.e. Sindhi, Urdu and English goes to his name covering the different literary genres. His thought provoking writings impacted not only the Sindhi literary domain and era but the whole literary scenario of the subcontinent. Shaikh Ayaz is basically a romantic poet but he also gives the impression of a clear nationalistic ideology and socio-political idealism. Thus we can see a blend of romantic ideas and realistic approach in his thoughts. This paper deals with his socio-political and nationalistic thoughts and as a whole with concept of nationalism
