Issue of womenLs freedom and empowerment is one of the most popular and important issue of the present age. There is difference of opinion on this issue between Islamic and western civilizations. In this perspective it is significant to investigate and analyze the issue in the light of thoughts and views of Allama Mohammad Iqbal, who is considered one of the most prominent poet philosophers of the Muslim world. Iqbal was brought up in an Islamic environment, but he attained highest academic degrees from the west and observed the western culture very keenly. In his poetry and lectures, Iqbal has analyzed the issue of womenLs rights and freedom in the light of Islamic commandments and his observation of western civilization. The present article is an attempt to analyze the thoughts of Iqbal on this issue. The study is analytical and philosophical in nature. It has used the poetry, speeches and statements of Iqbal as primary sources, while secondary sources have also been utilized in support of the arguments
