The paper presentedan in-depth view of current practices ofEnglishlanguage teachingat the Department of Political Science of the University of Karachi (Pakistan). It specifically narrowedits vision down to teach specific English course tothe students of political scienceat the said university.Three tools were employed to collect the data for this studyto determine the appropriateness of the Englishcurriculum that could havemet with the needs of students. The study also analyzedthe teaching strategies that wereadopted to teach English to the students of political science. This step followed toovercomestudents’ learning problems. The resultsled to suggest the designingof specific English curriculum forthe students of political sciencethat(curriculum)could bring clarity in teachingpractices and methodologies adopted to teach English in connection withthe particular norms of ESP practice and student need analysis
