Dakken was the region where tradition of Urdu literature flourished and ¡s a very
important period of development of Urdu language. Although most of the Urdu
linguists are of the view that the initial structure of Urdu language set into northern
India and then it extended towards southern part. But all of these are agreed upon the
fact that first rich tradition of Urdu literature was set in Dakken. The article reviews the
literature of Dakken in linguistic context.
