تلخیص
Nazar Sajjad (1892-1967) was outstanding Urdu Fiction writer of her time. She
wrote almost twelve novels and hundreds of Short Stories. More than six
collections of Short Stories can be prepared from her writing. She also wrote her
memoirs (Roznamcha) and diary (Sarguzasht) that were published in
Tehzeeb-i-Niswan of Lahore and Ismat of Karachi. But it is deplorable that in
the books of history of Urdu fiction only a few lines are found about her literary
achievements. Although her fiction is the cultural compound of the last decades
of the nineteenth and first decades of the twentieth century. The excellent
samples of native Hindustani culture customs and norms, ways of living and
interaction of local culture with west after the advent of British, are found in her
fiction. The different dimensions of the specific role of woman in Hindustani
culture are found in her literary art.
This article is an attempt to throw light on the particular role of Hindustani
woman in Nazar Sajjad's novels Aah-e-Mazlooman and Hurman Naseeb.
