"Shahnameh is the most significant poetry book that dates back to Samanid and Ghaznavid period and is the most important document that demonstrates the significance and splendor of Persian language and culture. Shahnameh is not only an epic literary poem but a mirror reflecting an all-encompassing image of human life and Iranian civilization, in which one can observe the continuity of Iranian identity through legends and fights till the last kings of Sassanid dynasty.
One of the noticeable elements in Shahnameh is magic, fate, fortune telling and predictions. This study focus on the elements of magic and predictions. According to our findings, the word magic in Shahnameh carries the meaning of mischievousness and trickery. Fate and fortune telling are other prominent element that are frequently found in Shahnameh.
The purpose of this study is the analysis of the elements of magic and predictions in Shahnameh.
