First Latin, French and English translations of the Holy Qur’ān

تلخیص
The Holy Qur'an has been translated by many scholars, both Muslim and orientalist. Latin was the first western language into which the Holy Qur'an was translated. In 1143, an Englisman, Robert of Ketton, completed his Latin translation of the Muslim scripture which was published in 1543 by Theodore Buchmann of Basel. Andre du Ryer rendered the Holy Qur'an into French and published it in 1647. Alexander Ross was the first to translate it into English. His translation, published in 1649, was based on du Ryer's French translation. This article introduces the earliest renderings of the Holy Qur'an in three Western languagesLatin, French and English. These translations have been analysed and some of the lacunae have been emphasized.
