Abstract
Pakistan and India have been at loggerheads with each other since their
independence from the colonial rule of Great Britain in 1947. But since 1998,
both are nuclear powers with advanced missiles regime that have the
capability of carrying nuclear weapons. India formulated a Cold Start
Doctrine with the aim of short and conventional war but Pakistan’s
advancement in the development of short range missiles equipped with
tactical nuclear weapons has been instrumental in containing the so called
Indian doctrine. The paper analyzes the role of Pakistan’s missile technology
in doing away with the Indian aggressive designs against Pakistan. A number
of Pakistani defense analysts have been interviewed in this regard and Indian
point of view is also compared with that of Pakistani point of view.
