Seeing Allah the Almighty Quintessence, Status and Evidence in light of Exegesis “Mafateeh ul_Ghayb”
Abstract
Every faithful believer has the sole aspiration of seeing Almighty Allah (usually
known as ru 'yat al-bari). According to a hadith, the peak of blessings for those
aboding paradise is to see Allah. The issue of seeing Allah is famously titled by
the Muslim theologians as ru’ yat al-bari. However, the question of whether it is
possible to see Allah or not is debated among the scholars. According to the
Mu’ atazili school, it is not possible to see Allah. In contrast, the scholars of the
Sunnite school of thought argue that the seeing of Allah is not only possible but
it will also take place on the Day of Judgment. In fact the honor of seeing Allah
has been given to the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him in this world, as
per the opinion of a group of Muslim scholars. In this article, the opinions of
Mu’tazilis and the Sunnite school have been critically evaluated in the light of
the commentary of the Quran “Mafateeh al-Ghayb.”
