Mythology in Modern Urdu Poem

Abstract
Word “myth” is derived from the Greek word mythos, which simply means story. A myth is a story, a traditional story consisting of events that are ostensibly historical, though often supernatural, explaining the origins of a cultural practice or natural phenomenon. These stories are especially linked to the religious beliefs and rituals. Urdu literature is deeply influenced by myth, especially Hindu and Greek myth .Myths is the basic element of human culture and exists in every society. Besides literature, myths play a great role in science, psychology and philosophy. Urdu literatures have treasure of asateer. Classical Urdu nazm /masnavi based on supernatural characters. A myth can be a story involving symbols that are capable of multiple meaning, so modern Urdu poets use myth as symbols also.
