Evidences of “Synecdoche” in the Light of Tafseer Rooh-ul-Ma’ani by Allama Aalosi
Abstract
Rhetoric which is one of the branches of Islamic sciences to which Muslim
scholars from time to time in the history have given careful consideration with
general reason for understanding the mystery of celestial word acknowledging
and imparting it to others. With the help of this knowledge one can depict the
miraculous nature of Quran and can further:
1- Recognizes bits of verses or composter while fundamentally valuing it.
2- Can upgrade his basic and scholarly taste and capability.
In any case, regardless of the untiring endeavors of researchers throughout
the globe that the part of comprehension a valuing the word of Almighty
cannot arrive at end. The scholarly world, so far has not seen a single piece of
work which combines all the three branches of rhetorical sciences (al-Maani,
al-Bayan and al-Badi) with full analysis of each Quranic word. The present
effort is therefore aimed at developing a Quranic Synecdoche of encyclopedic
nature for scholars and general readers for proper understanding of
rhetorical sense(s) of each word of the Quran and its contextual relevance.
Synecdoche, among the Figures of Speech, is one the kind of metaphors.
The term is used in some other meaning than its real or literal meaning while
area of resemblance between literal and metaphoric means does not exist. It is
called “ Mursal “ because it is free of any bonds of resemblance. The Holy
Quran bears several evidences of Synecdoche “and Allama Aalosi has paid
particular attention to it.
