BELIEF IN RESTITUTION - IN THE LIGHT OF HOLY QURAN, SUNNAH & REASON

Abstract
Some Muslims believe in Restitution (raj’ah; lit. to return), which has been a point of debate and discussion for long. Based on religious teachings and rational arguments, an attempt has been made in this article to argue for the possibility and occurrence of Restitution in the light of historical evidences within the context of its etymology, its historical background, and questions related to it. While referring to various Quranic verse, those interpretative narrations which prove the occurrence of Restitution have also been analyzed in this article. Such narrations, which independently explain the belief, are the central focus of this article. In the end, this article examines whether this belief is contrary to the teachings of the Quran and the Tradition, hence fabricated, or is based on facts.
