Abstract
This essay highlights Iftikhar Jalib’s views on the importance of introducing new linguistic formations and abandoning the conventional use of language in Urdu poetry and prose. The essay limits itself to the Urdu short stories of Iftikhar Jalib, that apply what the author calls the mythical technique, through which the story is constructed in the light of mythical ideas from the Greek and Hindu traditions as well as stories from the Islamic scripture.
