Some Epistolary Novels in Urdu

Abstract
Creative literature written in the technique of letters is called epistolary. The first attempt in this regard is the novel Cárcel de Amor (1492) by the Spanish writer Diego de San Pedro. While James Howell's novel Familiar Letters is predominant in English, this technique gained popularity following the publication of Samuel Richardson's novel Pamela (1740). The first Urdu novel, Joya Haq published in 1917, 1919, 1921. After him, Qazi Abdul Ghaffar, Majnoon Gorakhpuri, M. Aslam and Mustansir Hussain Tarar have used this technique in some of their novels. This article will examine the features of epistolary techniques and their future prospects in Urdu novels.
