Daagh Dehlvi and Disourse of Urdu Criticism
Abstract
Daagh Dehlvi is a very important literary figure of colonial period of
sub-continent. He was living in Qala-e-Mualla (Imperial fort) when Mughals were on
the peak of their decline. It is also a very bitter aspect of his life that his father Nawab
Shamsuddin was hanged. At that time Daagh was in his childhood and he was suffered
by a long life psychological miseries.
When we go through the literary analysis of his Poetry and narrative about his
personality and creative work, we are confronted with the funny expect of his poetic
entrepreneurship but his critics or observe to neglect his social political and other such
aspects of his poetical production.
If we consider his poetical creations we can find such political, social and
psychological problems in form of similes and metaphors that were top reality of his
poetical enterprise.
