MESSAGE OF RELIGIOUS HARMONY AND TOLERANCE IN THE POETRY OF SACHAL SARMAST
Abstract
We are living in turmoil conditions, to make this world
free from the racial hatred and differences religious harmony and
tolerance is needed. The prime objective of the religion is to
guide the mankind towards the right path rather than to create
differences and hatred. Mostly people use the religion to achieve
their wasted interests which is the main cause of loss of unity and
love among the people. Sufis are the people who always raised
their voice against the evil practices of the society.
Sachal Sarmast is one of the great Sufi poets of Sindh, infact of the world. We find the elements of intuition, exaltation and
euphoria in the poetry of Sachal Sarmast. Sachal Sarmast believed in the Wahadat-ul-Wajood and he preached the same
through his poetry. Sachal believed that all the human beings are
siblings of Hazrat Adam (A.S.) regardless of being Muslim, Sikh
or Christians. He says that division of mankind on the basis of
religion is un natural. Sachal Sarmast is the poet of love so he
preaches love and he lays emphasis on the purity of heart and
soul. Today we have lost tolerance opponents are treated as enemies. Only and only through tolerance and respect for others beliefs society can grow into a harmonious and united one, for
which well wishers of the mankind have ever been striving. Thepoetry of Sachal Sarmast carries the message of religious harmony and tolerance.
