Abstract
'Literary Cultures in Indian History was a linguistic venture of Chicago
University. An article titled: 'Early Urdu' was written by Shams-ur-Rehman
Farooqi for that project. Shams-ur-Rehman Farooqi through his article criticized
Sir Thomas Roe and Arthur Coke Burnell's work on Urdu, especially their
views, on the origin of the names of the language, have been disparaged a lot to
prove the eminent scholars erroneous. Shams-ur-Rehman Farooqi has mostly
counted on Aab-e-Hayat as the source of his research and commentary, while
Aab-e-Hayat itself not reliable for being full of the subjectivity of Moulana
Muhammad Hussain Azad. This article aims at pointing out the distortion of
historical narrative in Shamas-ur-Rehman Farooqi's commentary on the early
development of Urdu Language and Literature
Muhammad Sohail Iqbal, Muhammad Rashid Iqbal. (2020) Objections To The Critical Views Of Shams-Ur-Rehman Farooqi (In The Context Of Early Urdu), Mayar , Volume 23-24, Issue-1.
