Abstract
Port serves as the gateway to sea routes. Pakistan owns ports Karachi and Qasim: two
commercial ports in close proximity to each other. Their importance can be assessed with the fact
that 97% trade of Pakistan is seaborne. Due to increased traffic at these ports, it is expected that
congestion will affect the port operations. By launching Gwadar port, Pakistan will enter into a
new period of development and economic prosperity. India is suspecting the development of
Gwadar port and the presence of China at the port. The port is facing many hurdles mostly caused
by India, other regional and international actors.
