Abstract
Folk songs are the songs of the common people which are being passed down from one generation to another. These songs are the common creative heritage of all people, rather than the work of a single author. There are different types of Punjabi folk songs which are available for every occasion from human birth to death. Folk songs are a reflection of civilization, culture, history and the essence of the wisdom of experienced people. Folk songs are found in every language, nation, tribe and region. Folk songs help to understand regional geography, people's thinking, moods, customs and psychology. In 1906, The Ravi Magazine was launched in English. The first vernacular language, Punjabi, was published in 1910 and a few folk songs were printed. The publication of Punjabi language literature in Grmukhi and Shahmukhi and folk literature continues to this day. This research paper presents a research and critical review of the folk literature that adorns the magazine Ravi.
