Abstract
Religion Islam, being a complete code of life, describes logical solutions to the problems of human beings in general and Muslims of the world in particular. As one of the most important issues at the state level is the appointment of its chief executive and his power and function of administering the state, the present research paper highlights Islamic principles and Muslim traditions of appointing ruler of a state and his powers and functions of state management. It draws a historical sketch of Muslim society that how in the past Islamic principles and Muslim traditions in this respect have been applied for the welfare of state and society.
