Abstract
Large tracts of land in Pakistan are under severe threat of salinity and water logging; consequently destroying the biological potential of the land. A number of halophytic plant species have the potential for depletion of excess salt and water from the root-zone and to provide better root environment for the growth of other less tolerant field crops. Plant species possessing characteristics of depleting excess salts and water from the affected soils are discussed,
