Abstract
Field experiments were conducted during 1996 and 1997 at the experimental farm of NIFA to compare the efficiency of soil-applied and fertigation applied P using Potato as test crop. Phosphorus was applied 075 and 150 Kg P20,/ha directly to the soil at the lime of sowing and in solution form mixed with irrigation water (ferrigation) to the standing crop five weeks after sowing along with a control treatment receiving no P fertilizer. The result obtained showed that phosphorus applied as fertigation out yielded the soil application. The cost economics of soil-applied and fertigation applied P revealed that phosphorus applied through fertigation produced more economic return than soil applied P.
