Abstract
Field experiments were conducted to study the effect of organic manures in combination with chemical fertilizers on the yield of paddy and wheat in a farmer's field at Said Alian village in Dera Ismail Khan district. Organic manures included farm yard manure, green manuring with dhincha and mungbean alongwith a control. Fertilizer treatments were 0-0-0, 60-30-0, 80-60-0, 120-60-0, 120-90-0 and 120.90-60 kg N-P505- K20 ha* Organics were applied in 1990. Fertilizer treatments were applied to rice crop and then the following wheat crop. Experimental design used was spilt-plot with three replications. In case of paddy, all the organic manures increased the yield significantly over control. Green manuring with dhincha produced higher yields at all levels of fertilizers than the other organic manures. All the fertilizer treatments were economical. The results of wheat trial showed that farm yard manure increased the grain yield significantly over control and other organics. The grain yield of wheat in the green manuring treatments was at par with that in the control. Fertilizer treatment receiving 80-60-0 kg N-P205-K20 he was more economical than the other fertilizer treatments.
