Abstract
Dr. Rasheed Jahan is one of the most prominent progressive literary figures of the 1st half of 20th century. She is a short story writer and especially popular for her stories published in "Angaray" in 1932. She challenged the authority of Mulla and feudal of her society and resisted before their so called standards of life. She also played an active role in the communist party of India as was very close to Sajjad Zaheer and Faiz Ahmad Faiz. It was Rasheed Jahan who forced Faiz Sahib to leave romanticism and choose socio-political context of his time for the poetic expression. This article discusses the life and works of Rasheed Jahan as a vital and charismatic symbol of resistance to the extremism.
