Abstract
Due to the political influence of British people on the sub-continent there started the effect western civilization. In literature new forms emerged. Along with poetry, essay writing, history and journalism also found their way. With the translation of western literature the Indian society imbed the quality of western literature come to know about it. Due to this literature of sub-continent start moving towards writing in the domain of realism. The change of the subject in the literature and new forms the traditional imaginative story telling got replaced with the novel. On the literary seen movement propagated by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan could not be ignored. The foundation stone of Urdu novel is also related to movement of Sir Syed in which Deputy Nazir Ahmad and his novel are also prominent. In the age of Sir Syed there are four important dimension of novel writing. Pandat Ratan Nath Sarshar made the local the subjects of culture and society in his novel against the tradition of Deputy Nazir Ahmad which was the depiction of surface level morality and Hadi Ruswa for the first time laid out the individual of inner feelings and made novel worth full. These dimensions of Urdu novel in the late 19th Century are the gift of these thought, wisdom and educational prospective related to Sir Syed and his contemporary. In this background a meaningful study brings out many aspects.
