Abstract
Pakistan has about 6.3 million hectares of the salt-affected land. A lot of data have been published regarding the causes and reclamation measures necessary to handle various kinds of saltaffected soils at the farm and the regional levels. While reviewing this work an attempt has been made to avoid repetition and deliberate on those aspects which have been discussed less oftenly before. In the reclamation approach the use of gypsum for reclaiming dense saline sodic soils and biological methods have been emphasized. This Salute Agri. approach has been dealt with in greater detail. A number of points requiring special attention in the national strategy for tackling salinity have been recognized.
