Abstract
A soil pot culture study was carried out to investigate the susceplihility of 14 wheat varieties to low soil Cu, On the basis of grain yield response to CII application, varieties Chakwal-86, Faisalabad-HS and LU-26 were not susceptible to low soil Cu. Varieties Punjab-US, lnqlab-91 were slightly susceptible to low soil Cu as they responded to Cu application by 6 and 7 per cent, although this was statistically significant. Other varieties viz.. Blue Silver, I'ak-HI, Rohtas-90, Shalimar, Barani-83, Kohinoor-83, Faisalabad-X3, Stttlej-86 and Pasban-90 were susceptible with significant response ranging from 10 - 15 per cent in grain yield. Varietal susceplihility to low soil Cu was not related to their Cu concentration in 30 cm whole plant shoots nor lo grain yield. Copper application, in general, had antagonistic effect on the Zn uptake
