Plant species have proven to be an important source of treatment in different diseases, in particular certain malignant tumors. The cytotoxic efficacy of Fagonia cretica has long been a subject of interest. This particular interest in a patient of breast cancer helped us to ascertain the efficacy of this herbal plant in Thalassemia. In initial testing, we obtained encouraging results by using dried aerial parts of the whole plant. It obligated upon us a detailed study of the plant in Thalassemia. A powder of the dried aerial parts of the whole flowering plant was given in doses of 120 mg/kg body weight. The hematological and clinical results in nine Thalassemia Major group, showed a decrease of the Hb F from 97.45 to 10.82% and increase of Hb A from 0.33 to 85.5% (P<0.05).
