Abstract
Monthly Khatoonappeared in 1904 from Aligarh under the editorship of Sheikh Abdullah, to promote female education among Muslims in colonial India. For 10 years of its existence, 1904-1914, Khatoonplayed great role in emergence and promotion of Muslim girls earlier at primary level. Later the school grew to college level. Sheikh Abdullah and his wife WaheedaJahan devoted their whole life in this cause. Undoubtedly, it was monthly “Khatoon” which became the source of inspiration for female education in Muslim India.
