Abstract
The Sikhs are an important community in India. Despite being
a religious minority it contributes significantly to India’s state system
and society. This paper examines the socio-political position of the
Sikhs in India. How their religious identity developed and how did they
perform in history. They ruled the Punjab foe a longtime and engaged
in a constant struggle to protect and promote their religious and cultural
identity in India
