Abstract
The article focuses on the influence of the British Empire over the workings of the Dargah of Baba Farid Ganj Shaker in West Punjab. It includes a study of the evolution of the spiritual successor and the political and social impact of the British policies on the workings of the Dargah. The paper also focuses on how the political changes by the British administration caused the successors to deviate from the original practices of the Dargah that existed before British rule. It also analyzes the development of the relationship between the successor and disciples from the 13th Century to date.
