Abstract
After the time of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), The work on the interpretation of the Holy Qur’an began to be done from different angles. The people who resorted to the Ahadiths tried to interpret each verse from the Ahadiths and were quite successful in this, but one problem was that the verifying of the Ahadiths arose whether they really interpreted the Holy Qur’an. This was further worked on later. In the same way, those who started the work on opinion laid down rules for opinion so that no one could go astray while interpreting the Holy Qur’an. Maulana Abul Kalam Azad is one of the commentators on the principles of opinion. The scholarly position of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad is not hidden from anyone; the work he has done on history, politics, and religion scholars still benefit from his works. Maulana brought the subject to completion. If a list of ‘scholarly’ personalities is made in the history of India, then Maulana Abul Kalam Azad will appear in the initial numbers. Maulana’s most important work is ‘Tafseer Tarjuman-ul-Qur’an.’ The important topics discussed by Maulana in his Tafseer, such as research work, will be seen less in Urdu Tafaseer. This is not an exaggeration; for example, the research material that Maulana has included in his Tafsir regarding ‘Ashab-e-Kahaf’ and ‘Zul-Qarnain will not be seen anywhere in Urdu Tafseer. Here, along with the understanding of Maulana’s exegesis method, the merits of exegesis will be discussed in detail.
