Abstract
Manzoor Arif (1924-1980) was an important poet of Urdu. He was
attached with Progressive Writers Movement in a very active way. He
wrote his Ghazals and Nazms in Urdu language and published in the major
literary journals of his age. He used to write in Chachi Language too in the
forms of Poems, Ghazals and Geets. He was a saint by nature and felt the
pain of mankind all his life. He is an important poet of social improvement
and sensitivity. Progessive ideas, humanism and socio political shades can
be seen ideas in his poetry. Manzoor Arif caught eyes of important critics,
literary personalities and journals of his period in respect of his excellent
poetry. His poetry is full of emotions and love. In this research article the
life, poetry and poetic idealogy of Manzoor Arif is presented with
examples. Social progress and social issues are raised in his poetry.
Famous writers and critics also wrote about his social sensibility and
progressive approach which is also expressed in this article. His poetry
compiles the history of his life which belongs to different social, political
and geographic ways. His one book was published named "Lehr Lehr
Darya" His Ghazals and Nazms represent the betterment of his
countrymen and progressive idealogy in an impressive way. He is an
important poet and writer of his age and his poetry should not be forgotten
