Abstract
Jammu & Kashmir is a rich cultural region of the Subcontinent. Kashmir stands
out among the other civilizations in the Subcontinent. There are many
historians, including Alberuni who mention the rich culture, art and craft,
literature tradition, values and lifestyle of this region. An imperial power has
occupied this ancient valley and is continually targeting its people brutally.
Under these circumstances the traditional arts and craft, literary and cultural
traditions and lifestyle of common people in severe danger. In Kashmiri culture,
Kashmiri art, literature, Music and other types of fine arts used to have its
beautiful emotions of love and peace which are being vanished now. These
emotions are now changed into melancholy and anxiety. It is fact that we come
across the political situation state terrorism in Kashmir, but we do not get aware
of the factors which are mandatory of development of human civilizations. In
this research article after presenting glimpses of Kashmir valley civilization with
authentic references, review of the current situation is taken. It is tried to explain
that how the people of a region are compelled to change their lifestyle due to the
cruel tactics of an imperial power. For this research article, history books and
various news papers and websites are consulted. Interviews are taken with
literary persons, intellectuals and people related to fine arts.
