Abstract
Literature is the process of signifying socio-cultural aspect(s) of life into aesthetic
textual representation. When the socio-cultural intellectual identities tend to
discover their cultural significance by aligning their roles with linear process of time
through a dialectical process, the interpretation of historical and traditional cultural
codes is much needed. Being a postcolonial society, Pakistani cultural identities
have a diverged manifestation of identity-crisis upon which a number of indigenous
and imported cultural narratives have put temporal affects. The narrative of
feminism (according to me) has equally been misinterpreted while deciphering the
cultural codes regarding gender-based discourse in pakstani(postcolonial) society.
This paper aims at viewing the selected works of two renowned female poets from
Pakistan, Maki Kureishi & Fehmida Riaz , whose political stance in creative works
reflect a strange juxtaposition of gender cum social constructs of their society. This
paper also reveals that how Feminism as a claim in Fehmida Riaz's poetry contests
the politicality of her own stance in terms of episteme
